Volunteers needed for Red Cross Heatwave Service
Download Telecross Redi Information Flyer
Telecross REDi is a telephone based service that utilises volunteers to support pre registered clients during a government declared heatwave. The service is available to anybody who may be at risk during a heatwave.
During an activation period Red Cross people will be called on to phone pre-registered clients up to three times a day to check on their wellbeing. The purpose of the call is to provide preparation and coping advice that will allow the person to manage themselves throughout an extreme weather event. Red Cross will also enact an emergency procedure if a client is deemed to be in distress.
Red Cross is seeking volunteer callers at their Wakefield Street offices. One hour of training is all that you require to become a caller! You will then be able to assist Red Cross to ensure the well being of approximately 2,500 vulnerable people across the state. During an activation you are able to volunteer for one of three shifts per day.
If you are interested in volunteering your time please contact Red Cross on 8100 4657 or 8100 4663 for more information on training dates and opportunities.
